Taxi Licensing

In order to operate a taxi cab within the County of Kings you must apply for and be issued a Taxi-Cab License by The Municipality of the County of Kings (as per the Taxi By-law # 69). Prior to making an application for a new Taxi License, please confirm if the use is permitted at your proposed location and whether a Building and/or Development permit is required. Taxi Drivers License

In addition to completing the Application for Taxi Drivers License, you are required to provide the following:

1. Valid class 4 license issued under the Motor Vehicle Act.
2. Two (2) photos, passport size (No hats to be worn)
3. Abstract of driving record from the Registry of Motor Vehicles (within 30 days)
4. Fee $10.00 per year for County of Kings License.
5. Complete Criminal Record/Vulnerable Sector Check completed by Police Department or RCMP.

Taxi Owners License

In addition to completing the Application for Taxi Owners License, you are required to provide the following:

1. HST #:
2. Certificate of Registration Number:
3. A copy of Insurance Policy including a public liability insurance minimum of $2,000,000.00.

Renewals/Expiry Dates
Taxi drivers licences are issued as a fiscal year basis, expiring on the 31 March each year. It is the responsiblity of the taxi driver to commence the renewal process prior to the expiry of their license each year.

Fees for Taxis and Taxi Licenses
    Taxi/Limousine Owners License Plate $25.00
    Replacement Plate $5.00
    Taxi/Limousine Drivers License $10.00
    Replacement License $5.00
