The Municipality is seeking to replace By-law #60 (Subdivision Bylaw) that was first approved by Municipal Council in 1995 with the companion document, Municipal Specifications approved in 1997. The replacement Subdivision By-law (By-law #114) and the Municipal Service System Specification Manual were first presented to Planning Advisory Committee (PAC) in May 2025.

PAC then held a Public Participation Meeting in June 2025. On June 10th, 2025 the committee forwarded a positive recommendation that Municipal Council should give First Reading and hold a Public Hearing. On Monday, November 3, 2025 Municipal Council gave First Reading and approved the Public Hearing.

Next Steps: A Public Hearing is scheduled for Tuesday December 2nd, 2025 at 6:00 pm in the Municipal Council Chambers and is open to the public. Members of the public can also listen or watch live at www.countyofkings.ca

Application to amend the text of the Land Use By-law to add carwash facilities as a permitted use in the Rural Commercial (C4) Zone.

This application was presented to the Planning Advisory Committee on November 12, 2025 and the Committee made a negative recommendation to Municipal Council.

Municipal Council gave the application First Reading and authorized a Public Hearing at is meeting on December 2, 2025. The Public Hearing is scheduled for January 6th, 2026 at 6 pm in Council Chambers of the Municipal Complex. Following the Public Hearing, Council will give the application Second Reading. This meeting is open to the public and members of the public can also listen and watch live at www.countyofkings.ca.

Nick Levy, on behalf of Orin Levy Fuels Ltd, has submitted a planning application for a Land Use By-Law Map Amendment to rezone 1184 Parkway Drive (PID 55037063), Port Williams from the General Commercial (C1) Zone to the Light Industrial Commercial (M1) Zone to permit bulk mineral storage (Salt).

A Public Information Meeting was held on April 8th, 2025 at 6pm at the Port Williams Community Centre.

This application is currently under staff review and will be brought forward to Planning Advisory Committee at a date to be determined.

This application was reviewed by Planning Advisory Committee on Wednesday November 12, 2025 and received a positive recommendation to Municipal Council to give first reading to and hold a Public Hearing regarding the application.

The application was given first reading by Municipal Council on December 2nd, 2025.

A Public Information Meeting was held Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at 7:00pm at the Horton Community Centre - there were technical difficulties with the recording.

It has come to staff's attention that all the relevant proposal information was not provided in the initial Public Information Meeting. The planner initially assigned to this file has departed the Municipality. A new presentation was created and recorded by the planner now assigned to the file.

A new Public Information Meeting will be held in the community at a date to be determined, notification letters will be sent out, and the date will be posted on the Municipal website.

Application to enter into a development agreement to permit a tourist commercial use with up to 8 tourist cabins.

A Public Information Meeting was held on Wednesday September 4th, 2024 at 6pm, at the Gaspereau Community Centre - 2806 Greenfield Road, Gaspereau.

The application has been amended from its original proposal for 12 tourist cabins.

The application was given Initial Consideration by Municipal Council on October 7th, 2025.

A Public Hearing was held by Municipal Council on November 3rd, 2025.

Municipal Council opted to refuse the application to enter into a development agreement on November 3rd, 2025. The decision of Council has been appealed to the Nova Scotia Regulatory and Appeals Board.
